Victor Creek Febuary 2015

Today we made a trip down to Victor creek. The creek was finally solid enough to get and climb, we were still pretty apprehensive about whether the ice would be in, but we were excited to see none the less. Too our delight the climbs were in fact in! Although most of them are still very wet, slushy, dripping and quite scary! It was very warm today and we roasted in our tech gear for sure. Every time we make a trip here we always dress down a bit much and it always ends up being warmer then we thought. But towards the end of the day we were glad we layered up as the sun started leaving us it definitely got cooler. Over all most of the climbs need some more cold weather or boulder souls then us, but we got a great look at this gem of an area, and made a send of what I believe is Victor creek 5.

Natalie and Merek as were heading in to the canyon

A look back down the creek after we passed a bit of a tight spot

Our first glimpse of ice! This gave us hope to continue along the creek even thought parts were a little sketch

Merek and Nat pressing on

We came around the corner and saw Kings Beard, what a sight to behold! the picture doesn't do it justice, this thing is a beast!

We went a ways up the lower slope to get a closer look and it looked insanely wet and some random talus flew off the canyon so we decided it was best not to go higher

Here we are! Oh yea!

Nat and Merek passing under the ice gateway to progress further up the creek to the other climbs

Juicy Route, Not looking so Juicy unless you count the amount of water running off it

Victor Creek 3, the left side is real mushy and wet, but over all this is sendable if still a bit thin, if we get another snap of cooler weather it should be looking good

Walking almost to the tight spot in the creek by the smooth face, Victor Creek 4 is right in front of Nat

Looking back through the tight spot, Victor Creek 4 center Pic

After we decided to climb VC5 we just peeked around the corner but didn't go any further on this trip, you can see a couple pillars up there and things may be more solid up that direction, hopefully we will check out further up and give a report soon!

Victor Creek 5, all this stuff was pretty solid, it did get more mushy up top, and the left side of the lower section was mushy as well

Lexi Ice Climbing

Today we went right outside of Cooper Landing to take Lexi ice climbing. She had been all amped up all winter long to go, but since we have not had the best cold winter up here until recently none of the ice had really formed well so she has had to wait. We found some smaller sections that had developed and she was ready to climb them. Lexi is 12 years old and just the right size to be able to handle the tools. The tools are still a bit big for our younger girls, but Mia and Madi didn't mind playing in the snow while Lex climbed. We all cheered Lexi on and she completed every route she climbed today!:)

Lexi all ready to go ice climbing, Nic getting her crampons ready.

Now that Lexi was all warmed up she was ready to climb a bigger, longer route. So we moved to another spot right down the road and she went for it.

All American Family

Recently we bought a Sentria 2 Kirby vacuum. We never thought in a million years we would be so freakin excited about a vacuum! LOL! Surprise, but we are!  Its seriously one of the best buys! Its shiny and perfect for EVERYTHING! We have vacuumed every surface of the house and shampooed the carpets, oh oh and we used it to unclog drains. Its an all around tool. Plus it drives itself! Did I say its SHINY;)
